What is a mixture?

A combination of two or more substances that are physically combined but not chemically bonded

What is a solution?

A homogeneous mixture where one substance (the solute) is completely dissolved in another (the solvent)

What is a solute?

The substance that gets dissolved in a solution

What is a solvent?

The substance that dissolves the solute in a solution

What is the difference between a homogeneous and heterogeneous mixture?

A homogeneous mixture has a uniform composition throughout; a heterogeneous mixture does not
